Workshops for children and young people

Workshops can be booked for any groups of children or young people, including in education settings, for youth groups or privately for groups of friends.   

Mindfulness

From Mind Full to Mindful

In this workshop, participants will gain an understanding of how mindfulness can help them to manage challenging thoughts and difficult feelings, to stay focused on tasks they need to complete, to increase motivation and to build resilience. They will learn specific techniques they can use at home, at school and in social settings.

Regulating emotions

We Can Do Hard Things! Learning to Regulate Anxiety

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to think about the things that make them feel anxious and to learn some tricks they can use when they feel that way to help them regulate the feeling and to still be able to do the things they want to.

Feeling Blue? Learning to Regulate Low Mood

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to  make friends with feelings of low mood and to think about how those feelings might be useful. They will also learn some tips and tricks to cope with low mood so they don't miss out on opportunities.

You Wouldn't Like Me Angry! Learning to Regulate Anger

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to get to know feelings of anger, including the impacts those feelings can have on themselves and others in their lives. They will also think about healthy ways of talking about and expressing anger.

Coping Skills for Dealing with Distress

Sometimes there is nothing that can be done immediately to change a situation that is causing difficult thoughts or that is creating emotions that feel unmanageable. In this workshop, participants will learn techniques and skills they can use to tolerate the distress and cope with how they feel.

Managing friendships and relationships

Dealing with Challenging Friendships

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to think what a healthy and equal friendship looks like, how they can know they have good friends and how they can be a good friend. They will learn some techniques for managing conflict with friends and how to deal with disagreements, as well as how to repair ruptures in friendships.

Being Assertive for Girls and Young Women

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to think about the stereotypical expectations on girls and young women to be polite, easy going and passive and how they can challenge these expectations to be assertive while prioritising their personal safety.

Being Assertive for Boys and Young Men

In this workshop, particpants will be given the opportunity to think about the stereotypical expectations on boys and young men to be dominant, competitive and aggressive and how they can challenge these expectations to be assertive while prioritising their personal safety.

Personal safety

Personal Safety for Children

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to think about the people, places and activities that can help them to keep safe and ensure they can get the help they need, when they need it.  

Personal Safety for Teens

Very often, we tell young people that they can’t do things because we are worried about them coming to harm. This is understandable but it can limit the opportunities available to them as well as causing resentment and conflict. The purpose of this workshop is to enable young people to better understand risk and to make good decisions around personal safety so adults in their lives can feel more confident when they venture out into the world.

Building Better Body Image for Girls and Young Women

In this creative workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to think about the things that impact girls’ and women’s relationships with their bodies and to learn some techniques they can use to manage negative body image and low self-esteem.

Building Better Body Image for Boys and Young Men

In this creative workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to think about the things that impact boys’ and men’s relationships with their bodies and to learn some techniques they can use to manage negative body image and low self-esteem.

Challenging gender stereotypes

You’re Such a Girl! Challenging Gender Stereotypes of Girls and Women

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to think about the messages the world gives us about how girls and women should be and ways that we can all challenge these messages and remove the limitations on girls and women.

Boys Will Be Boys! Challenging Gender Stereotypes of Boys and Men

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to think about the messages the world gives us about how boys and men should be and ways that we can all challenge these messages and remove the limitations on boys and men.

Critiquing Representations of Gender in the Media

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to analyse media representations and to think about what they tell us about how women and men should be. They will also think about ways to critique media representations and challenge their negative impacts. 

Getting to know your body

Just 10 More Minutes! Getting a Better Night’s Sleep

In this workshop, participants will learn about the importance of sleep for adolescents and work out some things they can do to try to get a good night’s sleep.

Go With the Flow: Understanding Periods

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity check their knowledge and understanding of menstruation and learn some tips for managing the impacts of periods, either for themselves or others in their lives.
