Workshops can be booked for any groups of parents and caregivers, including foster parents, extended family or adults in the wider support network.

Understanding adolescents

Are You Ready For It?  Preparing for Adolescence

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to share their concerns and fears about parenting or caring for adolescents (those aged 8+), to develop their understanding of common adolescent behaviours and learn some techniques to manage more challenging behaviours.

Surviving and Thriving During the Teenage Years

In this workshop, participants will be able to expand their knowledge of key developmental changes in adolescence and learn some practical tips on how to deal with common challenges of living with, or caring for, teenagers.

What Were You Thinking?! Understanding Impulsive and Sensation Seeking Behaviours

In this workshop, participants will expand their knowledge of adolescent brain development and how these changes can impact behaviour, including impulsive and sensation seeking (risk taking) behaviours. They will also learn some ways of supporting young people to better appreciate and manage risk.

Just Do As You Are Told! Understanding Defiance and Controlling Behaviours

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to think about the ways that issues of control are present in their relationship with the young person in their life and learn some practical ways to manage common controlling behaviours, including defiance and rudeness.

You Can Do It! Building Resilience with Young People

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to think about the things that the young person in their life struggle with and some practical ways they can support them to face challenges and to be able to acknowledge problems and find ways to overcome them.

Regulating emotions

Don’t Worry About It! Supporting the Child or Young Person in Your Life to Regulate Anxiety

In the workshop, participants will gain an understanding of how young people may experience anxiety and learn some tools and techniques they can use to support the person in their life to be able to regulate anxiety so that they do not miss out on opportunities.

I Just Want You to Be Happy: Supporting the Child or Young Person in Your Life to Regulate Low Mood

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to think about the ways that low mood and changes in mood impact the young person in their life and their wider support network and learn some ways to support the young person to better understand and regulate their low mood. 

Calm Down! Supporting the Child or Young Person in Your Life to Regulate Anger

In this workshop, participants will gain an understanding of ways they can talk to the young person in their life about feelings of anger and some techniques that can help young people to regulate anger so that they do not miss out on opportunities and can maintain positive relationships.

Managing friendships and relationships

Sticks and Stones: Supporting the Child or Young Person in Your Life to Deal with Bullying

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to think about ways they can support the young person in their life to respond to bullying in ways that are emotionally healthy, that do not put them at risk of further harm and that support positive self-confidence and self-esteem.

Keep Your Friends Close: Supporting the Child or Young Person in Your Life to Deal with Friendship Issues

In this workshop, participants will be able to reflect on their own experiences of friendships in adolescence, to develop their understanding of ways that friendships change during this stage of life and to learn some practical tips for supporting the child in their life to manage changing and challenging friendships.

Personal safety

Personal Safety for Children

In this workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to think about the ways to support the child in their life to identify the people, places and activities that can help them to keep safe. They will also consider ways of ensuring that children can ask for help when they need it and know they are being heard by the adults in their life.  

Personal Safety for Teens

Very often, we tell young people that they can’t do things because we are worried about them coming to harm. This is understandable but it can limit the opportunities available to them as well as causing resentment and conflict. The purpose of this workshop is to enable parents and caregivers to better understand ways they can talk to teenagers about risk and manage worries about safety.

Improving body image 

Supporting the Girl or Young Woman in Your Life to Build Better Body Image

In this workshop, parents and caregivers will be able to think about the messages girls and young women are given about how they should look and learn practical techniques they can use to counter negative messages about body size and shape and how to avoid reinforcing harmful stereotypes about appearance.

Supporting the Boy or Young Man in Your Life to Build Better Body Image

In this workshop, parents and caregivers will be able to think about the messages boys and young men are given about how their bodies should be and learn practical techniques they can use to counter negative messages about body-size and shape and how to avoid reinforcing harmful stereotypes about appearance.
